Our Biological Sciences department paves the way to a rewarding career in the medical sciences -- as a physician, physical therapist, dentist, or veterinarian; in ecology; as a biology or environmental science teacher, a research scientist, or a health science manager. You'll "do" science by conducting research with faculty and peers in our excellent facilities or in the fields and streams surrounding campus. You could intern at a hospital or clinic or participate in field trips to the Florida Everglades, the Galapagos Islands, Zimbabwe -- the whole world is our laboratory!
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry seeks to equip students with the knowledge and methodologies of chemistry and biochemistry so as to enable them to be informed Christian citizens as well as skilled and ethical practitioners of chemistry, biochemistry and chemical education.
As a program approved by the , our department offers rigorous courses across all sub-disciplines of chemistry, as well as laboratory and research experiences necessary for preparation as a scientific or health-care professional. Our department places special emphasis on the integration of the knowledge and methods of science with Christian faith.
Our dynamic curriculum in Computing prepares students for careers in a broad range of computing disciplines. Through a series of core courses, students develop foundational competencies and explore where they own talents and passions may intersect with computing careers.
Study Mathematics, Physics or Statistics and you will learn analysis skills and problem-solving strategies that can be applied to virtually any field. Students in these fields aren't working alone at a desk; they regularly work together on problems, travel to local professional conferences to present their work, and join interdisciplinary Collaboratory teams to lend their expertise to applied projects across the globe. Our Statistics minor is an excellent addition to any major and can include internships at Hershey Medical Center or pharmaceutical companies.
Students in each of our majors and minors are regularly accepted into paid summer research programs (called REUs: Research Experiences for Undergraduates) at colleges and universities nationwide, where they develop valuable professional skills. All of our students gain real-world experience through internships, and they have opportunities to participate in programming competitions, service learning, and summer research experiences.
The Engineering program at 91制片厂 is uniquely suited for talented problem-solvers who wish to partner with God to alleviate human suffering. The Department of Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree, which is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of . Our Bachelor's of Science in Engineering has concentrations in Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental and Mechanical. The department also offers bachelor's degrees in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. The Engineering department partners with The Collaboratory for Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research to offer a hands-on service-learning experience. Students will have a chance to learn necessary skills for engineering practice while implementing solutions that make a real difference for someone, often partners who are otherwise underserved.
The Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science department offers academic programs that lead to careers in health, wellness, and leadership, with majors and programs in Applied Health Science, Athletic Training Accelerated Program, Health & Physical Education, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Sport Management. All programs connect classroom learning with firsthand practical experience, and faculty are committed to integrating Christian faith within the context of the health professions. Excellent on-campus facilities include 91制片厂's human performance lab, state of the art athletic training facilities, a weight room, natatorium, gymnasium, and the Falcon Fitness Center. Off-campus internship and practicum settings energize students to appreciate both the challenge of scholarship and the opportunity for service.
If you want to make a difference in people's lives, a career in Nursing might be for you. Nursing is the nation's largest healthcare profession. You will practice on life like medium and high-fidelity human simulators in our state-of-the-art nursing laboratories on campus. The program provides a variety of clinical opportunities at excellent clinical agencies and hospitals in the Central Pennsylvania area. Graduates from our nursing program are highly respected by our local hospitals. They achieve great success on the NCLEX-RN exam, obtaining employment, admittance into graduate nursing programs, and throughout their nursing careers.
If you are interested in a career in medicine, Pre-Health Professions Advising program can help you get there. This program provides assistance for students considering medical school and other health-related professional schools such as veterinary, chiropractic and pharmacy school. Our on-campus advising services assist students in all aspects of their preparation and application for further study, including the three major areas considered most important by medical schools and graduate-level healthcare programs: achieving and maintaining a strong academic record; thorough test preparation for career-specific aptitude tests (such as the MCAT); and exposure to, and the opportunity to participate in, meaningful medically related experiences.
In addition, you can participate in science education programs sponsored by the Oakes Museum at 91制片厂, home to a Smithsonian-quality natural history collection. Intended to enhance educational opportunities for both our students and the surrounding community, the museum features world-class quality mounts of African and North American mammals and the largest zoological (egg) collection in Pennsylvania. Be a part of the Oakes Museum team by working as a volunteer and experiencing everything the museum has to offer.
